2012

One of Giltner’s first oil paintings and one of the most imperative in Giltner's collection, features his good friend, affectionately nicknamed “Sidewinder.” This captivating work captures the essence of Sidewinder's character, showcasing his laid-back demeanor and love for drinking Budweiser and having a good time.

The painting  reflects their initial meeting in 2001 at Campbell's Truck Stop, a beloved bluegrass venue in Chester, South Carolina. With only thress colors, Black, white and red, the dark tones portray his character, while very minimal red brushstokres illustrate Sidewinder's Budweider and cigarette as he sits drunk,  emeresed in the music.

This piece not only honors their friendship but also pays homage to the rich cultural tapestry of Southern music and community.
